Rajbari in Hetampur
Featured here are the Rajbari palace and the adjacent terracotta temple in Hetampur, Birbhum district of West Bengal. The Rajbari palace is also known by the name Hetampur Hajar Duari for it is built in the in the shape of a castle with 999 doors (hajar is one thousand in Bengali, duari means doored). To the left of the Rajbari is a small temple with terracotta carvings with the theme of Ramayana. The palace was a favourite location for Bengali film makers like Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Tarun Majumdar, Raja Sen, Dilip Roy, Sandip Ray who used it in their renowned works like Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, Abhijan, Mrigaya, and Ganadebata.
