Marble Palace in Kolkata, West Bengal
Marble Palace, a popular tourist destination in Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal state of India, is located on Chittaranjan Avenue (C. R. Avenue) at Muktaram Babu Street, Chorabagan in the city.
The Palace was built in 1835 by Raja Rajendro Mullick. It is an alluring marble palace which depicts various art forms from Italy, Netherlands, England, and other European nations. Many objects inside the palace are also made of marble and hence the name Marble Palace.
Marble statues, bronze images, woodwork, artworks, oil paintings and glass or porcelain artifacts are displayed inside the palace. Since the palace has this exquisite collection of art, tourists frequent this place.
The entrance to the Marble Palace is free and it is open daily except on Mondays and Thursdays. The timing is from 10.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M.
