Indigenous Granary of Santhal Tribe, Shantiniketan
Featured here is the making of the traditional granary of Santhal tribe. Hay and rope is used for the construction of these indigenous granaries. Santhals, the largest tribal community in India, are an agricultural tribe. They cleared forests, toiled on the land, and produced food for survival. The renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore, in order to reform these Santhals, brought them to Shantiniketan and settled them in the nearby villages.
