The busy Howrah Bridge, Kolkata
Rabindra Setu popularly known as Howrah Bridge is one of the busiest cantilever bridges in the world and is situated in Calcutta, West Bengal. Commissioned in February 1943, this bridge daily carries thousands of vehicles and pedestrians. Howrah Bridge spans over River Hooghly to connect the cities of Kolkata (Calcutta) and Howrah in West Bengal.
The bridge was re-christened as the Rabindra Setu in the year 1965, in the honour of the country's first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
Being one of the busiest bridges everything here is growing fast. Shown in the video are the fast moving vehicles, hurrying pedestrians and street vendors going from one city to the other through the historical bridge.
