Dakshineswar, West Bengal
Dakshineswar is a place in the state of West Bengal, in Barrackpore subdivision of North 24 Parganas district. The place is famous for Dakshineswar Kali Temple. The temple was built by Rani Rashmooni of Bengal.
The construction work of the temple was started in 1847 and was inaugurated on the occasion of Hindu festival Snanyatra. People from allover the world visit the temple obtaining the blessings of Kali (Goddess).
This place was also the working place of great Hindu sage Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who was considered as the incarnation of god. Hindu Monk Swami Vivekananda was a disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
