Walls of Jhansi Rani Fort, Uttar Pradesh
The Jhansi Rani Fort (Jhansi Fort), located upon the Bangara hills was built by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha. It consists of three massive and fortified stone walls up to eight feet thick and up to thirty feet high.
The fort stands as a mute witness to the valor of Queen Laxmi Bai of Jhansi popularly known as Jhansi ki Rani. The famous Karak Bijli cannon used for the freedom struggle of 1857 is preserved within the fort. One can also see inside the fort the Grave of Gulam Gaus Khan, Panch Mahal palace and the two famous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha.
