The Taj Mahal, a Magnificent Monument
Situated in the ancient city of Agra in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India, is the magnificent white marble structure – the Taj Mahal; built as a symbol of love. The Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World is a mausoleum built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan for his beloved queen Begum Mumtaz Mahal.
A blend of Indian and Persian architecture, this mausoleum is made of white marble. The entire portion is enclosed by a wall with broad octagonal pavilions at the corners. Semi precious stones are inlaid in the marble in beautiful patterns; a craftsmanship known as pietra dura. Ustad Ahmad Lahaur is considered as the principal designer of Taj.
Within the dome lies the jewel-inlaid cenotaph of the queen. Presented in this video is the Taj Mahal shining on a bright sunny day.
