Raja Gangadhar Rao Mahal, Jhansi Rani Fort
Raja Gangadhar Rao Mahal inside Jhansi Rani Fort is a beautiful palace and it had once been the residence of Raja Gangadhar Rao, the King of Jhansi. He was a good administrator. The period after his rule is marked by a great upheaval in India’s history.
After his death without an heir, the British colonisers were all set to make the kingdom part of their empire. As a result Laxmi Bai, the gallant and valorous queen and the wife of Raja Gangadhar Rao, fiercely fought for the freedom of Jhansi from the clutches of colonialism. Her fight was part of the first war of independence.
Located on the top of Bangara hills, Jhansi Fort was built by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha. The fort is overlooks the city of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. The state is one of the popular travel destinations in India. One can find a number of historic monuments in the state.
