In and around Triveni Sangam, site for Kumba Mela
A mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith, Kumba Mela, which is considered to be the world's largest religious gathering, is an event held every 12 years. It is held every third year at one of the four places by rotation: Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayag), Nasik and Ujjain. Kumbh means a pitcher and Mela means fair.
This time, in 2013 Kumba Mela is going to be held in Allahabad (Prayag) at Triveni Sangam. Over 80 million people is expected to participate in 2013. Triveni Sangam is a sacred destination for Hindus where three rivers — Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati unite.
