The Fort of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh
Situated on the southwestern outskirts of the state of Uttar Pradesh, the city of Jhansi is known for the role it played in the first freedom struggle of India. The majestic fort here was built by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha on the hill known as Bangara.
The fort later became the residence of the freedom fighter Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi popularly known as Jhansi ki Rani. Every Indian is proud of the patriotism and the supreme sacrifice of this brave lady.
There is also a museum inside the fort which possesses a large collection of sculptures which provide an insight into the eventful history of Bundelkhand, of which Jhanis was the capital.
