Sakya Centre, Dehradun
Sakya literally meaning 'the place of grey earth' is one of the four sects of Tibetan Buddhism, which has its own set of traditions. Shown in this video is the Sakya centre run by His Holiness Sakya Trizin in Dehradun, Uttarakhand state of India.
Established in 1964, the monastery now has more than 200 monks of different age groups. Many of these monks belong to poor families and are mostly from India, Nepal and Bhutan.
Along with the rituals and prayers the course of study based on traditional monastic education system is followed in this monastery.
