Yamunotri Temple - Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit
Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the Yamunotri Temple is situated close to Yamuna River, the second holiest river in India, in the state of Uttarakhand. The temple, one of the shrines included in Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, is situated at an altitude of 3,291 metres and is accessible only by a full day’s journey from the nearest towns of Rishikesh, Haridwar or Dehradun.
The Yamunotri temple has been destroyed twice by snow and floods before being rebuilt. The original temple was built by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur in the 19th century. Featured in this video are pilgrims trekking towards the shrine.
