Loading workers in Lohajung in Chamoli
The small village of Lohajung, located in Chamoli district, State of Uttarakhand, India lies at a height of about 8000 ft above the sea level. The video shows local workers loading sack loads of a lichen-like substance that is collected from the barks of trees in the region.
This stuff has medicinal value, besides serving as raw material for other products. Lohajung is one of the numerous villages perched on the slopes of the Himalayan foothills. Lohajung is an hour’s drive from Deval, which is at a lower elevation.
