An adventurous trip through the hilly terrain of Kedarnath offers the majestic views of Himalayas, surrounding valleys, varieties of Himalayan flowers and Himalayan fauna and finally to Lord Kedarnath at Kedarnath Temple. It is only through Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary one can reach the Kedarnath temple- the popular shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and included in Char Dham pilgrimage.
Consisting of an area of 975 square kilometer, the sanctuary is the largest protected area in the western Himalayas and established in the year 1972 mainly to protect the endangered Himalayan Musk Deer. The best time to visit Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary is from April to June and again from September to November.
