Hookah smoking, Haridwar
This video shows hookah smoking of the old men in Haridwar, Uttarakhand state of India. This is a usual scene from this place.
Hookah is an instrument which has been used for centuries to smoke tobacco. It is a pipe which has a base pot filled with water, a bowl at the top containing tobacco and a pipe that connects the bowl to the base.
There is another hose fitted to the base through which tobacco smoke cooled by the water is drawn into the mouth of the smoker. Men sit around and pass the smoking pipe to each other in turn.
It involves more nicotine than the cigarette smoking and is injurious to health. The hookah is a popular apparatus for smoking and is popular especially in the Middle East and also in Asia.
