Trek to Hem Kund, Uttarakhand
The video shows Hem Kund, an important pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Sikhs located on the banks of the glacier lake, Lokpal at an altitude of 4329 ms in Uttarakhand state, India. Hem Kund is a 13 km trek away from Ghangaria village, base camp for the journey to Hem Kund and Valley of Flowers National Park.
Hem Kund is famous for Hem Kund Sahib Gurudwara – a Sikh shrine, Lakshman temple – a Hindu shrine, Lokpal Lake, clad peaks in the Himalayas and is an ideal location for trekking.
Shown in the video is a trek and trekkers to Hem Kund from Ghangaria village. Most of them are pedestrians but one can also see visitors enjoying pony rides. The trek takes one through pine forests. En route to Hem Kund, one can find wild roses, ferns, village huts and the Himalayas.
