Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, Uttarakhand
Featured in this video is Har Ki Pauri, one of the holy sites in the city of Haridwar, Uttarakhand state of India. There are many legends associated with this site. It is believed that during Vedic era Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, the Hindu gods, appeared in this place.
Being a holy site, Har Ki Pauri is crowded with devotees who come every day to offer their prayers to the many temples, small and big situated on the banks of the River ganga. They also worship the holy River Ganga (Ganges), by making offerings and praying with lighted lamps (aarti) during the evenings.
One can see many priests on the banks of the River Ganga in Haridwar, chanting mantras, meditating and paying their respect to River Ganga. As per belief, people coming to Haridwar take a dip in the River Ganga to wash off their sins.
