Badrinath Overview
Badrinath, sacred destination and a town located in the Garhwal ranges of Himalayas, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Filled with utmost devotion amidst the snow blown ambience, Badrinath is one of the four sites of Chota Char Dham pilgrimage.
Legend says that Adi Shankara found a black stone idol of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alaknanda River. He placed the image in a cave near the Tapt Kund hot springs and later on, the King of Garhwal moved the murti or idol to the present temple.
