Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna, a new ray of hope to women in Uttarakhand

Women belonging to lower income group in Uttarakhand have now become self reliant under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna, a poverty eradication scheme launched by the Government of India to provide self-employment through small industries. Under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna, assistance is given to rural women living below the poverty line for taking up self-employment. At present, there are around 216 self-help groups in Haldwani Block in Nainital.
