Fearing the Islamic invaders, the Zoroastrians or Parsies fled from Persian Empire. A large segment of these people found their refuge in
India and settled mainly in
Gujarat. The Parsies of
India are the descendents of these refugees from Persia. Traditionally the Parsies are traders. Though they are a minority, they have a decisive role and influence in the Indian society. The famous Indian industrial houses like the Tatas, Godrejs, and Wadias are Parsies. Mumbai is the chief center of operations of the Parsies.
