Santosha means contentment. Santosha is an important concept of yoga according to
Yoga Sutra, written by
Patanjali, the great sage of India. Santosha is the state of cheerfulness.
Contentment with what the sadhaka has or with his circumstances brings true happiness. Discontentment on the contrary causes utter unhappiness. The practice of
aparigraha itself leads to santosha or contentment.
