Moringa, Drumstick Tree
Botanical name - Moringa oleifera
Family - Moringaceae
A tree of up to 10m height. Every part of the tree is said to have beneficial properties Poultice of fresh leaves are applied on boils, swellings and wounds. Hot decoction of tree bark is used to foment inflamed parts. Paste of roots mixed with salt is used as a poultice for inflammatory swellings. The oil extracted from seeds known as ben oil is applied to painful gout and rheumatic joints. Flower boiled in milk is an aphrodisiac.
