Method of preparation
Extract the juice from a handful of five leaved chaste tree leaves by crushing and squeezing. In the same way, take the extract from eclipta and lac. All the extracts must be kept separately. Then take a piece of clean cotton cloth and dip in each and then leave to dry. The dipping and drying must be done seven times. After this process is over, make a wick with the cloth piece and then light it in a lamp with pure ghee. The smoke that rises from the flame should be caught in a bronze plate. The soot thus formed is an ideal eye liner.

The black soot formed on the plate can then be stored and used as kohl for regular use.
