A floating water plant with underground rhizomes. For skin eruptions due to smallpox and chickenpox poultice of lotus flower, chandan and Indian gooseberry is applied. Poultice of lotus flowers applied on the body could cure burning sensation.
The ripe seeds produce a wholesome effect in cases of Neurathenia, spermatorrhea, and metrorthoea. The leaves are the seed cores in decoction are effective of insomnia and hemorrhage and haemotemesis.
