Mahatma Gandhi : Childhood
Mohandas Gandhi was born in 1869 at Kathiawar in the modern state of Gujarat, as the youngest of the three sons of Karamchand Gandhi, the Prime Minister successively of some of the states, and his fourth wife Putlibai. They belonged to the Baniya or trading caste.
