Bahya Snehana
The concept of Bahya Snehana or external oleation in Ayurveda treatment explained.
1. Pichu
Pichu is a palliative treatment for health problems in the cranial region. The treatment is named after the folded piece of cloth called Pichu that is used to cover the crown. The pichu dipped in medicated oil is spread over the crown and kept for a while. More oil is poured if it is not totally soaked.
2. Abhyanga Snehana
Abhyanga or Abhyanjana is the process of rubbing medicated oil over the entire body. Abhyanga can be a daily routine before having a bath. This kind of oleation serves as an effective prophylactic against many ailments related to the Vata Dosha.
