An annual growing to about 15cm. The fruit is astringent. The juice of the bark is applied externally to treat backaches. For conjunctivitis extract of flower extract and chandan is mixed in milk, filtered and applies in the eyes.
Seeds are an efficacious remedy for psoriasis, leucoderma etc. equal parts of seeds with black pepper powder is given. Paste of seeds is applied locally for skin diseases and for destroying head lice.
