Asamprajnata is the higher stage in
Samadhi. Because of the deep absorption on the self (purusha / spirit), the inner apparatus of cognition we term as mind also ceases to function. Then the duality of the subject and the object also is left behind and the yogi is in a supra - reflective stage which is called Nirvitarka Samadhi.
As there is no normal process of awareness left and only an awareness of the knower or the self remains, the yogi is said to be in a stage called Sasmita Samadhi. The self reflects itself as ‘I’ (asmi). The consciousness of the yogi is now absolutely with the
Purusha (self) alone.
