Thirumalai Naicker Palace, Madurai
This video presents the palace of Thirumalai Naicker in Madurai, Tamilnadu state of India. It is considered as one of the wonders of the south. It was constructed in 1636 AD by the King Thirumalai Naicker, the then ruler of Madurai.
This palace is an example of the architectural marvel during that time. The palace was designed by an Italian architect and was erected in the Indo-saracenic style. It is believed that the king lived in this palace during his reign.
The present structure of the palace is only one fourth the portion of the original palace as the remaining part was demolished by Chockanatha Naicker, grandson of Thirumalai Naicker. It is a must visit place. Don’t forget to visit this palace when you are in Madurai.
