The Brihadeeswara temple, Thanjavur
Featured in this video is the Brihadeeswara temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, situated at Thanjavur, formerly known as Tanjore, Tamil Nadu. One of the finest temples belonging to the Chola architectural legacy, it is sculpted out of granite. The design of this temple is so special that the monolithic tower never casts a shadow at noon at any period of the year.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and there is a gigantic Mahalingam (the symbolic image of Lord Shiva) in the temple.
