Pancha Pandava Mandapam and Arjuna’s Penance at Mahabalipuram
Panch Pandava Mandapam, an unfinished monument with pillars adorned with lions and is also adorned with delicate carvings.
Arjuna’s penance is carved on the face of a rock, which forms a part of a huge whale-shaped rock. This excellent carving is a unique example of Indian art and one can see a series of rows of gods and goddesses, sages, celestial beings and animals are carved.
Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram is known for the marvellous monuments, sculptural panels, caves, monolithic rathas and sculptural temples made in Pallava art. This World Heritage Site is situated on the Coromandal coast to the south of Chennai in Tamil Nadu state, India.
