Morning Ritual in Thirukkurungudi Village
Kolam (Rangoli) drawing literally meaning geometrical line drawing using white rice powder is a ritual performed by the female members in Hindu families everyday at dawn in front of their households. Kolams are said to bestow prosperity to homes as per Hindu mythology. It also marks the beginning of the daily activities in the houses. Kolams are known by different names based on places.
