Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Tamilnadu
This video features Madurai Meenakshi Temple in Tamilnadu state of India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvathy with her consort Lord Shiva and is considered as the signature of Indian architecture.
The temple was originally built by Kulasekara Pandya and the structure as it is now was erected by the Nayakas, who ruled Madurai from 16th to 18th century. You can see a small pond outside the temple which is well maintained.
The guides explaining about the temple to the foreigners are also seen. There are four entrances facing four directions which is a unique specialty of this temple.
Also there are 14 magnificent towers attached to this temple. Many people visit this temple as part of their pilgrimage and offer prayers to the deity.
