Krishna Mandapa at Mahabalipuram, a World Heritage Site in Tamil Nadu
It is the Krishna Mandapam located to the south of Arjuna’s penance at the monuments in Mahabalipuram. The Krishna Mandapam is the biggest among the Mandapams and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Inside this mandapa one can see carvings and sculptures based on Lord Krishna’s. The principal scene in the sculptured panel is Krishna lifting Govardhana Mountain to protect the cowherds from the storm raised by Lord Indra.
Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram is known for the marvelous monuments sculptural panels, caves, monolithic rathas and sculptural temples made in Pallava art. Mahabalipuram, a World Heritage Site, is situated on the Coromandal coast to the south of Chennai in Tamil Nadu state, India.
