Madurai Meenakshi Temple Mandap, Tamilnadu

Madurai Meenakshi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi, is one of the popular shrines in South India. Situated in Madurai in Tamilnadu state of India, this temple is around 2500 years old and is considered as the signature of Indian architecture. 

This particular video shows the famous thousand-pillared mandap within the temple. It is a beautiful structure with sculptures depicted on its stone pillars according to the basis of the sastras in Hindu mythology. 

This Mandap is said to have been erected during the reign of the Nayakas in Madurai between 16th and 18th century.
