Kailashanathar Temple interiors, Kanchipuram
Kailashanathar Temple is a famous temple known for the beauty of its sculptures. This temple is dedicated Lord Shiva and was built by the Pallava ruler Rajasimha at Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu state, India. The temple structure is filled with all the sixty four aspects of Lord Shiva.
There are 58 small shrines around the main temple. One can also see the figure of Ardhanariswara (the deity as a hermaphrodite). The goddess in this has a veena in her hand and Lord Shiva seated on a bull and is peculiar to this place.
Shivratri is the biggest festival held here. Kanchipuram known as the city of temples is one of the India’s seven sacred cities.
