Gandhi Memorial at Kanyakumari
The Gandhi Memorial at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu state, India is a beautiful structure resembling temples in Orissa. This memorial has been built in such a way that the rays of the Sun at 12 noon lights up the place where the urn containing the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi was earlier kept before immersion. The urn was kept here for the public to pay homage.
The memorial built in 1956 houses the last belongings of Mahatma. Kanyakumari or Cape Comorin is the land’s end of the Indian subcontinent. This beach destination is famous for the union of three seas - the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal.
