Sivalaya Ottam at Veerapathira Temple, Kanyakumari

Veerapathira Temple at Thirparappu is yet another temple participating in the Sivalaya Ottam ritual conducted in the 12 Siva temples in Vilavancode and Kalkulam taluks of Kanyakumari district.

The Kodyar River and the Thirparappu waterfalls render a fascinating backdrop for the temple. Sivalaya Ottam is a ritualistic marathon celebrated in these temples as part of Mahasivarathri celebrations.

Thousands of people from Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Madurai districts as well as neighbouring State of Kerala take part in the Sivalaya Ottam.
