Sivalaya Ottam at Thekkurichi Mahadevar Temple, Kanyakumari

Featured here is the Sivalaya Ottam in Thekkurichi Mahadevar Temple near Kuzhithurai, in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu. It is one among the 12 temples participating in the Sivalaya Ottam (a ritualistic marathon run).

The temple is situated east-facing on the bank of river thamirabarani. Thousands of people from Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Madurai districts as well as neighbouring State of Kerala take part in the Sivalaya Ottam. The ritual starts at Thirumalai Mahadevar Temple at Munchirai and passes on to Thekkurichi Mahadevar Temple.
