Statue of Nandi at Brihadeeswara temple, Tanjore
It is the huge statue of Nandi (the holy bull vehicle of Lord Shiva) at Brihadeeswara temple, Tanjore. With a length of 6 and height of 3.7 meters, this giant statue is is the second largest one of the whole country. The statue is carved out of a single stone.
Tanjore or Thanjavur, otherwise called the Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu, is also home to many temples, which stand out in architectural beauty and grandeur. Prominent of them is Brihadeeswara temple, built in the 11th century by the Chola ruler Raja Raja Chola I. It is one of the World Heritage Sites in India located at Tamil Nadu.
