In the pangs of love
The moments are tormenting for Lord Krishna since his sweet heart Radha is angry with him. He is burning in his love for her and pleads the virtuous one to come back and to be his for ever.
This beautiful piece from the classic Gita Govinda by poet Jayadeva is rendered gracefully by Anita Ratnam, the renowned Bharatanatyam artiste. The composition, which begins as ‘Priye Charuseele’ belongs to a group of songs called Ashtapadi, which are known for its lyrical charm with Lord Krishna as its subject.
Though Bharatanatyam, the ancient Indian classical dance in Tamil Nadu, India is conceived as metaphysical and abstract, rendering of tender emotions, too, is well within its scope.
