Chidambaram Shiva temple

Chidambaram temple is one of the most important and popular temples in India. This temple is one of the oldest shrines in the country and is situated near Cuddalore, 250 kms South of Chennai (formerly Madras), Tamil Nadu state of India.

The deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva, which is in the dancing form. Many people from all over the country visit this temple and offer their prayers to the deity. This is such a big temple where there is a tank and a huge Mandapa or pagoda.

Inside the temple you can see the sculptures and the paintings created during ancient times. The Chidambaram temple has a high historical importance.
