Onion Bajji or Venkaya Bajji

Ingredients

Venkayam (Onion) – 2
Lentil flour – 250 gm
Chilli Powder – ½ teaspoon
Bajji Powder – ¼ teaspoon
Asafoetida – ½ teaspoon
Refined oil – 500 gm
Salt to taste

Method of preparation

• Put Lentil flour (kadala mavu) in a bowl. Add enough water to make a thick batter. Add ½ teaspoon chilly powder, – ½ teaspoon bajji powder, ¼ teaspoon asafoetida and salt to taste. Mix well.

• Cut onion into thin slices.

• Pour refined oil in a frying pan. When the oil becomes hot, dip the onion pieces in the batter and deep fry. A good snack to serve with tea.
