Team India wins ICC World Cup
Team India dedicated the 2011 ICC World Cup that it won on April 2nd, 2011 to the batting maestro Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. It was Sachin Tendulkar’s dream to see Team India as WC champions. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai witnessed the most glorious of all victories in its history when Team India led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni crushed the Sri Lankan team by six wickets. Men in Blue is another name for Indian men’s cricket team.
India won its first World Cup in cricket in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. The team at that time had the likes of Srikanth, Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Yashpal Sharma, Madan Lal, Roger Binny and Syed Kirmani.
The World Cup winning team of 2011 had a powerful batting line-up comprising Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina. And the bowling squad had Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel, Ashish Nehra and Sreesanth.
