Tera Tali dance of Rajasthan
Presented here is the Tera Tali dance of the Kamar tribe in Rajasthan performed during the Pushkar fair near Ajmer in Rajasthan state, India. Usually performed by women folk, the dance here is performed by men.
In this ritual dance, while performing this the dancers sit on the ground. Manjiras (small metal cymbals) are tied to different parts of the body and the dancers will balance a decorative pot on the head. The dancers will also carry Manjiras in their hands and strike them in thirteen rhythmic ways. When the dance proceeds, the dancers will clench a sword between their teeth.
