Kapali Yantra at Jantar Mantar, Jaipur
Jantar Mantar, a World Heritage Site in Jaipur, in the state of Rajasthan, India, is famed for its scientific calculation instruments. Shown here is Kapali Yantra, an instrument divided into two hemispherical parts known as Kapali. The western Kapali as a prototype of the Jai Prakash instrument and represents the plane of the horizon. The eastern Kapali was used for solving astronomical problems graphically. Jantar Mantar is considered to be the largest stone observatories in the world.
