Jaiprakash Yantra, a calculation instrument used to observe the position of the sun, ascendants and other heavenly bodies, is located at Jantar Mantar, an observatory in Jaipur, Rajasthan state of India. This scientific calculation instrument acts as a double check on all the other instruments of the observatory and has been divided into two identical parts which work every hour alternately.
Jantar Mantar at Jaipur, built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, is one of the largest stone observatories in the world.
