The golden Patwa Haveli of Jaisalmer
The shifting sands and the howling winds of Thar Desert have a lot to tell about the history of Jaisalmer. Known as ‘Golden city’, Jaisalmer is best described as the land of havelis or private mansions. Havelis with its rambling courtyards, vast terraces, corridors, jharokhas (overhanging enclosed balcony) and carved doors are always a wonder for the visitors.
Here is the Patwa Haveli of Jaisalmer, one of the oldest and largest havelis built in Jaisalmer, a town in the State of Rajasthan, India. Maintained by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India), the haveli is certainly a creative splendor.
