Dappu dance from Andhra Pradesh
Presented here is the Dappu dance performed during the Pushkar Camel fair at Pushkar in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Dappu dance is a kind of folk dance popular in Andhra Pradesh, a south Indian state. Dappu is a popular round frame drum and the traditional percussion instrument of Andhra Pradesh.
The dancers in Dappu dance carry the dappu on their waist and beat rhythmically with sticks. Besides Dappu, the dancers wear bells in the waist and dance according to the rhythm they produce on the drum.
Mainly performed in the festivals, celebrations and marriage processions, Dappu dance is the conventional dance form of Telengana area in Andhra.
