Revival of traditional musical instruments of Punjab by Sohal Group of Arts
Many traditional musical instruments have been pushed to the background in the rush of modernity. But in Punjab some of these instruments have been returning to the forefront thanks to the initiatives taken by a local music group called the ‘Sohal Group of Arts’. The group, started five years ago has chosen to revive Punjab’s forgotten heritage in musical instruments. Traditional musical instruments like the Sarangi, ek-tara, dafli and the snake charmer’s flute are getting a new lease of life thanks to the ‘Sohal Group of Arts’.
